Biography

Defecto is a Danish progressive/melodic metal band formed in 2011 by Nicklas Sonne, Frederik Møller, and Thomas Bartholin. Their debut self-titled EP was produced with Flemming Rasmussen — the man behind Metallica's Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All. That same year, they were named Best Metal Band at the Underground Music Awards. A band with ambitions far beyond the local scene, built from the start on serious craft.
Four acclaimed studio albums followed — from Excluded (2016) through Nemesis, Duality, and into the current era. Along the way: a support slot for Metallica at Royal Arena in Copenhagen, support for Rammstein in front of 35,000 people, multiple Copenhell appearances, European touring, and Japanese distribution. Signed to Frontiers Music with booking through Intromental. Over 6 million streams and counting.
2025 marks a new chapter. Morten Gade Sørensen — known from Pyramaze, Anubis Gate, and Wuthering Heights — joins on drums, bringing a new level of precision and power to the live show. Their latest album, Echoes of Isolation, releases on Frontiers Music — a concept record exploring mental health, human vulnerability, and the quiet catastrophes people carry. The band returns to the stage with European touring and a confirmed appearance at Copenhell 2026.
